Heart-centred, science-led coaching for women
I specialise in Simple Wellness and Life Design, helping you to build wellness that supports your creativity, confidence and sense of control.
I’m a Mayo Clinic qualified Wellness Coach, experienced thought partner, and passionate advocate for women’s health and wellbeing.
I’ve spent years learning about wellness and understanding how to build and re-build my own health and wellbeing after burnout, cancer, loss and grief.
I work with women who are ready to take action. We share information, shift perspectives, surface inner strengths and expertise and embed habits that will improve wellness for life.
Wellness that works for you is wellness designed by you
My mission is to help you live the life that matters most to you fuelled by wellness that works for you.
I'm not into performative wellness, like one-off spa days or aesthetically-pleasing yoga retreats. I want you to feel empowered, not pampered.
I’m after impactful wellness. I want you to feel in control of your wellbeing, understand your options and advocate for your health so that you don't end up suffering stoically, like your mother or grandmother most likely did.
I want you to know how best to avoid Alzheimer’s and osteoporosis; to minimise your risk of heart disease and prevent diabetes. I want you to know that menopause symptoms can be managed, that your sex life can be saved, that you don't need to buy tena ladies or get up through the night every night.
I want you to maximise your healthspan, which means to live well and independently for all of your life.
I’m working to ensure you have the level of wellness that supports your daily energy and creativity and protects your future health for you and for those you love.
Why? Because life's too short and you've worked too hard to watch it slide out from under you. And because we need you to show up as your strongest, most energised version to make your corner of the world a better place. Women can make such a difference, especially when they connect to share their wit and wisdom...
Overwhelmed by online advice? Cut through the noise here
If you're in a rut, exhausted, on the brink of burn-out, feeling unfit or unhealthy, or just feeling lost, then you are no longer showing up for yourself.
I have no doubt that you’re there for other people, putting others first, but when was the last time you gave yourself the same care and attention?
Let's just let that question settle. Watch the tumbleweed roll on by ...
But, even for those other people, you're not showing up as your best self. The one that makes the most impact; the one that they rely on; the creative, imaginative, supportive, active, organised, passionate version of you. The version we long to see, the version of you that know you can be.
Maybe you're too tired or overwhelmed to imagine the impact that more energy could have on your life? Maybe you've let go of the idea that you can still feel good at your age. You've given up on your libido, your sleep, your sense of calm, your ability to feel joy.
Maybe you're starting to accept that life shrinks as you age. And your numbness makes it hard to believe you can change your life (and your life story) at this stage. I get it. I’ve been there. I see you.
So, let me assure you, with confidence and compassion, that no matter what your age or stage, it's not too late to resurrect your health and wellbeing or to redesign your life and your legacy.

Stay Well
Where you're the circuit - an energy system.
A circuit breaker is a safety device designed to protect a circuit from damage caused by overload. Like a circuit breaker, my wellness breaks are designed to interrupt your overload, identify and improve the energy flow, and then reset the system to resume normal operation. We can do this at:
Gatherings for 8-12 women: a day of sharing wisdom.
Hunkerdown™ for you and a friend: a weekend of empowering growth.
Level Up in Mallorca for 7 women: a mini-break for nurturing your vitality.
You need Simple Wellness, delivered fortnightly, by email
Simple Wellness is about focusing on the next thing, not ALL the things.
I live in Scotland, in the East Neuk of Fife, with my husband and two dogs. We have four grown-up sons who live in other parts of Scotland, but we love getting together when we can.
I left corporate life in 2024 after finally - finally - listening to my body, which had been trying to get me to pay attention for a long time. Years, in fact. It took a shoulder injury, burnout and then breast cancer, but, eventually, I listened. And, once I had recovered, I redesigned my life with wellness at its core.
…in making life-changing decisions based on better understanding themselves and their true goals. Whether advising parents and students on international education choices, working with women starting up businesses or finishing up careers, or advising on applications and presentations for advancement, I’m very grateful for all of the uplifting journeys I’ve had the privilege to be part of along the way.
That life really is what you make it. You CAN design your life. Freedom and fulfilment are deeply personal and individual concepts so we have to define for ourselves what ‘a good life’ looks like; what living well feels like.
For me, it’s a life that includes family, learning, reading, writing, watching sport - especially cricket and rugby, beekeeping, travelling and dog-walking. I’m happiest outside in warm sunshine or fireside in cold weather. And I’m better at all of these things when I am fit and well.
Because being unwell was my biggest lesson in life.
That photo? That was the day I was told 'it's probably cancer and it's probably Stage 3 or Stage 4'. It was cancer. And it was Stage 3.
The only shock bigger than the diagnosis? The treatment. Losing my health, strength and vitality showed me how much my day-to-day life depends on me being well.
It’s why I now know that wellness needs to be existential, not aesthetic; to be about lifestyle choices, not social media trends.
I was nearly 60 when I finally understood I had agency over my health and wellbeing and that I could get stronger than I’d ever been whilst also improving my healthspan.
So, trust me when I say it’s never too late and you’re in exactly the right place to start.
Wellness is freedom
Freedom from stress, overwhelm anxiety, weight concerns, sleep issues, guilt, shame, worry about the future...
WELLNESS is optimal mental and physical wellbeing.
My clients are not, typically, wellness consumers. They are intelligent mid-life women, outwardly okay but privately struggling and sharing their issues with almost nobody, not even their closest friends.
Even when they know what they should do, understand what they need to do, they haven’t figured out how to do it - how to fit it in to their already too-full lives.
They’ve had enough of trying and they can't bear the disappointment of failing again. But they really, REALLY want to feel well now and fare well in the future.
Coaching is designed to boost your self-belief, to remind you that you CAN.
My coaching style is compassionate and direct. I act as your 'thinking partner', supporting you to make meaningful and lasting changes based on your vision and goals.
Answering your Coaching FAQs
I don't do free discovery calls because I want to deliver content of value from our very first encounter.
Typically, we’d start with a Healthspan Audit. You'll be asked to complete a questionnaire and we'll discuss whatever you choose to get us started.
We'll agree what would work for where you are now and make a plan: either you take away a direction and the resources you need to make progress, or we set up your next session and work together.
a detailed questionnaire with contextual information and full research references
a 45-minute consultation

I get it. It can feel like a big step. If coaching is just too high a step for you right now, here are some other options:
Take a Healthspan Pillar Assessment in whichever area you most want to work on: Eat Sleep Move or Play
Join a live healthspan webinar to see how I work.
I'll be here when you're ready.
"Inspiring. Calm, insightful, wise... our discussions help me see things better so that it's not all so overwhelming. "
"I am feeling lighter, clearer, and with a sense of calm confidence about my health that I haven’t felt in years."
"I am so grateful for your motivation You have already had such a positive impact on my life... You are the most wonderful Wellness Coach!!!
Changing my world one day at a time."
"You identified patterns I hadn't seen until we talked. And now that I can see them, I know what to do about them so thank you! It's hard to explain just how much of a difference this makes."
“I was so confused by all the health information out there — every week a new trend, a new rule, a new ‘must-do’.
Deborah is the complete opposite of that. She cuts through the noise with honesty and proper evidence. There’s no clickbait and no wellness waffle — just helpful advice from someone with real training and a story that means you can trust her, because she’s been through it.
It’s refreshing to finally have someone I can trust to help me make decisions about my health.”
There were many tears (me) and Deborah listened quietly with compassion and instantly understood what I was saying.
Deborah ’got me’, and pointed me in the direction of reading materials - articles, books and social media (Substack). She had ideas and suggestions for me to take away and mull over. She gently persuaded me to challenge myself and my beliefs, which I did.
I highly recommend coaching with Deborah. She is an ideas person who can help you to take small steps towards the progress you wish to see, whatever that may be.
